Passengers may be asked to show their ticket stub to Café Car attendant. The purchase of Clipper cards from the Café Car is limited to one (1) card per ticketed passenger. The stored value can be used to pay fares on multiple transit systems in the San Francisco Bay Area and reloaded with additional value once the initial $11 is depleted. The pre-loaded Clipper card will cost $11 on board the Capitol Corridor train for a one-time savings of $3. They will not let you use your cash value on your Clipper Card to do this, you have to provide a credit card that is separate to pay for the transaction. I've had to call up Clipper Card customer service with a new Clipper Card to do a balance transfer, which costs $5. There's no way to unblock the card once you wipe the old phone. Without manually removing it BEFORE the transfer, it locked the old card to the previous system. I have spent hours troubleshooting on all the public help forums and articles for this, and none of it has stuck. But not my existing one that is visible in the Clipper Card app, but not available to add in Apple Wallet. Brand new iPhone 13 Pro and brand new Series 7 Apple Watch, and my virtual card disappeared even though I was able to add every single other card to Wallet just fine… and a brand new Clipper Card.
